Making digital health and IT adoption easier

HSMA helps hospitals, health systems, and programs discover and compare digital health and IT solutions — and helps innovators get discovered with lower acquisition cost and less duplication.

HSMA (Health Solutions Market Africa) is the product. PneumaCare is the company building it.

We’re building HSMA because procurement and adoption of digital health and IT tools is getting harder across Africa — even when there are great solutions available.

The rationale

1) Increasing cost of acquisition

Innovators face rising customer acquisition costs: more stakeholders in the buying process, longer cycles, and repeated discovery meetings that often don’t convert. HSMA reduces this friction by helping the right buyers find the right solutions faster, with clearer signals and structured information.

2) Duplication of efforts

Hospitals, health systems, and programs repeatedly do the same work: mapping the market, shortlisting vendors, validating security and deployment needs, and writing evaluation rationale. HSMA standardizes the inputs (categories, criteria, and comparable fields) so teams can start from a shared baseline instead of rebuilding from scratch.

3) Insights gap in the market

There’s a gap between what buyers need to decide and what’s easily accessible: implementation realities, fit-for-context trade-offs, and comparable signals across vendors. HSMA closes this gap by pairing structured listings with research and decision frameworks that reflect how hospitals, health systems, and programs actually choose.

What users can do with the first version

  • Browse the marketplace by category and subcategory
  • Open a product detail page to review integrations, security, deployment, and pricing signals
  • Register your product to be included in the marketplace

What we’re improving next

We’re focusing on better decision support:

  • clearer evaluation criteria by category
  • stronger verification signals
  • more structured comparisons across vendors

If you work at a hospital, health system, or program — or you’re an innovator building for Africa — you’re in the right place.
